How to make bread in home
Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)
Instructions:
Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
Mix the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture.
- If using, add the olive oil.
- Mix until the dough comes together.
Knead the Dough:
- Flour a clean surface and knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
First Rise:
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
Shape the Dough:
- Punch down the risen dough and knead it for a few minutes.
- Shape it into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
Second Rise:
- Cover the loaf with a damp cloth and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Preheat and Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, or until it sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
Cool and Enjoy:
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
